Use every + (time expression) to say how often something happens or doesn't happen.

  • I cook every day .
  • I go grocery shopping every week .
  • I don't get a haircut every month .
  • I don't take a trip every Golden Week .

Saori is talking to Catherine at dinner.

Saori:

I'm getting bored.

Catherine:

Huh? What are you talking about? We always have fun!

Saori:

But we always do the same things. We go to work every day and eat out every night . We go shopping every weekend . We travel every month .

Catherine:

What's wrong with that?

Saori:

I get paid every month , but I never save money. I'm going to be 30 soon! Is that okay?

Catherine:

Well… We're just enjoying life. Thirty is still young!

TRIVIA

In Japan, most employees get paid once a month (ex. on the 25th). But in other countries, many employees get paid every two weeks or even every week. There is no set payday.
